Objective: Run Monthly Tea parties in local communities for people normally over the age of 75 to reduce loneliness and social isolation
Activities and Support Offered: Activities & Services/Support offered: Once a month, normally on a Sunday afternoon, each older guest is collected from their home by a Volunteer Driver, and taken to a Volunteer Host’s home, where they join a small group for refreshments, talk and companionship. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the charity’s drivers and older guests remain the same. The tea parties are free for the guests and once they become a member of a group they stay with that group until they no longer need or want the place. Guests are matched with a group as are volunteers so we don’t offer a drop in facility for people. This means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship.
Target Group: People normally over the age of 75 who live on their own
Transport Provided? Yes Driver – use their own car once a month on a Sunday afternoon to collect 1 or 2 guests and together join the rest of the group at the hosts home for a couple of hours of tea, cake and companionship. Drivers need to be DBS checked which we will arrange
